Avatar 3 lights up Pandora with brutal twists as major characters fall and others vanish into uncertainty, reshaping the war for the planet. Dive into who dies in Avatar: Fire and Ash—and whose fate is left hanging.

Avatar 3 is here to do exactly what you expect a James Cameron sequel to do: go bigger, get messier, and make you care just in time to rip the rug out. If you are trying to keep track of who actually dies in 'Avatar: Fire and Ash' and who is just left dangling, here is the clean, spoiler-heavy rundown.

The setup

The final stretch is a massive, all-hands war. Jake Sully steps up as Toruk Makto to rally multiple Na'vi clans against the Sky People. It is brutal and chaotic, and when Colonel Quaritch shows up with his new ally Varang and brings reinforcements, the tide swings hard toward the RDA. Eywa tips the scales back, and the Na'vi win — but it is not cheap.

Confirmed deaths

  • Ronal — The Metkayina tsahik and Tonowari's partner is gravely wounded during the final battle, specifically after Quaritch and Varang bolster the Sky People forces. She makes it through long enough to give birth to a baby girl, then dies shortly after. Before she goes, she entrusts the newborn to Neytiri. Yes, the movie actually goes there.
  • Mick Scoresby — The SeaDragon captain who squeaked through the second film does not get a repeat miracle. A Tulkun takes him out during the climactic fight.
  • General Frances Ardmore — A major RDA power player, Ardmore is killed in an explosion during the finale. No ambiguity, no cutaway — she is gone.

What is left hanging

Several other big names end the movie in question-mark territory. But as of this film's finish, the only deaths the movie locks in are the three above.

Release timing

'Avatar: Fire and Ash' opens in the United States on December 19, 2025.
