ARC Raiders Cold Snap Update Stealth-Buffed Its Most Reviled Enemy
Thought Shredders in ARC Raiders couldn’t get any worse? Embark’s Cold Snap update just cranked these floating tanks into overdrive—faster, more responsive, and maddeningly tough, shrugging off your fire with ease.
If you thought Shredders in ARC Raiders were already a pain, Embark just rolled out the Cold Snap update and cranked the dial past reasonable. The floating tank that hunts you down? It just got meaner. Yes, somehow.
Cold Snap does good things... and then hands the Shredder a rocket
On paper, Cold Snap is a solid patch: there is a full skill tree reset, a bunch of bug fixes, and general tuning. All fine. But the standout change is the one that makes the scariest enemy in the game even scarier. If you were hoping for a nerf to the Shredder, you are not going to love this.
The Shredder buff, translated
Shredders were already tanky and took a small arsenal to put down. Now they are tougher and more aggressive on top of that. Here is what got juiced:
- Faster overall movement and quicker responsiveness when turning
- Improved navigation so it tracks you more reliably
- Speeds up when it enters combat, when it takes damage, and when it is close to you
- Reduced knockback, so your stagger tricks work less often
- Increased head health, so popping the top is harder
- More individual parts you can break off to chip it down
So... balanced? Not really
Yes, the added breakable components give you more ways to dismantle it. That is the one concession to sanity. But the Shredder now closes gaps faster, shakes off control, and soaks even more damage. Net result: fights get louder, messier, and longer. Expect more chaos across the board after Cold Snap.
The tiny tank is the real boss
At this point, the big ARCs look almost cuddly next to the Shredder. Players were already treating these things like mini-bosses; Cold Snap just turned that feeling into reality. It is hard not to read this as Embark doubling down on the fear factor rather than smoothing it out.
Bottom line: ARC Raiders is still getting smarter under the hood, but in the short term, prepare to spend more time hiding behind rocks, pinging weak points, and praying the floating tank does not spot you first.
