Nine years after their split, the Jolie-Pitt feud refuses to fade. In a new lawsuit, Angelina Jolie alleges the standoff with Brad Pitt is even keeping her from buying a new home.

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have been split up for almost a decade, but the legal aftershocks are still rattling around. The latest wrinkle: a new filing says the fight over their French vineyard has bled into everything from emails to real estate, and Jolie is asking Pitt to cover $33,000 in legal costs tied to it.

The house issue, the money choice, and Miraval

According to a new lawsuit flagged by journalist Kjersti Flaa, Jolie says she has not been able to buy a new house in Los Angeles since the divorce. In the same filing, she notes that she did not ask for alimony or additional financial support when the marriage ended, which she says pushed her to sell her share of the former couple’s vineyard, Chateau Miraval, to support herself and the kids.

In court papers filed in California and cited by E! News, Jolie also describes being emotionally unable to set foot on the Miraval property after what she says happened there during the marriage, so selling her stake felt like the only practical path. She sold to The Stoli Group.

Why there is yet another lawsuit

Pitt sued over that sale. As part of his case, he asked to see private messages between Jolie and the buyer, including communications with Stoli. Jolie says she cannot hand over certain messages because the deal was confidential. In a countersuit, she is now seeking $33,000 from Pitt to cover legal expenses she says were caused by that discovery demand. It’s a small number in celebrity-land, but it underlines how granular and expensive these post-divorce battles get.

The net worth question (and why it does not solve everything)

If you’re doing the math in your head: yes, Jolie is still extremely wealthy on paper. As of May 2025, Celebrity Net Worth puts her at $120 million. That number represents assets and investments as much as cash in the bank. Also worth noting: she hasn’t headlined a major film or big industry project in nearly two years, and she’s raising six kids. None of that screams financial crisis, obviously, but the public does not have her full balance sheet either. The filing’s claim that she hasn’t been able to buy a new LA home is the surprising part, and it does make you stop for a second.

Where she is coming from, career-wise

Career highlights still loom large: Lara Croft in the Tomb Raider films, Maleficent for Disney, and Thena in Marvel’s Eternals. Outside acting, she’s been busy over the years with modeling, investments, entrepreneurship, and extensive work as a UN Special Envoy and human rights advocate.
