And Just Like That's Aidan Comeback: Carrie Won't Be a 'Home-Wrecker' in Season 2
Aidan/Carrie fans have nothing to worry about.
The premiere of And Just Like That… Season 2 is fast approaching. Without a doubt, the most anticipated detail about it is the return of Carrie Bradshaw's ex-fiancé and true love, Aidan Shaw, played by John Corbett.
Aidan entered Carrie's life in Season 3 of Sex and the City and quickly became one of her most compelling love interests.
Although he left the show as a recurring character in Season 4 after the two broke up, many viewers thought Aidan was a better fit for Carrie than Mr. Big. And now, more than ten years later, Aidan/Carrie fans are finally set to get what they always wanted.
However, there is one big 'but.' Aidan was not single when we last saw him. Corbett guest-starred in Season 6 of Sex and the City when it was revealed that Aidan had married and had a baby after breaking up with Carrie. In addition, the ex-boyfriend appeared in the movie Sex and the City 2 to say that he had two more kids. Oops!
Luckily, Aidan's family will not be an issue for his and Carrie's newfound love, as the spin-off creator Michael Patrick King told Entertainment Weekly.
'I would not make Carrie Bradshaw a home-wrecker,' King said. 'That's the biggest leak I can give you. That's not the story. The story is [they're] open for business. They're both single. You know how she's single. You don't know how Aidan's single.'
We don't know, but we can guess. When Aidan and Carrie last met in Abu Dhabi, Aidan's marriage seemed to be on thin ice. More than that, with a passionate kiss, Aidan showed that he was still not over Carrie. So it is very likely that when the two finally meet in June, Aidan will be divorced and their old flame will be rekindled.
The only thing left for the fans is to wait and watch the two beloved characters reunite and find their love again. Michael Patrick King promises a nostalgic and exciting ride.
'What happens is all part of the great fun and puzzle of writing a series, to somehow give people what they're expecting and yet find ways to have people grow and still be that person,' the creator said.
And Just Like That… Season 2 is coming on HBO Max in June 2023.
