Ana de Armas is in final talks to join Cameron Diaz and Benicio del Toro in Reenactment, a Grant Singer feature with its plot kept tightly under wraps.

Ana de Armas might be lining up a screen share with Cameron Diaz. The project is called 'Reenactment,' it already has Benicio del Toro on board, and Grant Singer is directing. Plot details are locked down, but the package is already making the rounds online and, unsurprisingly, getting plenty of chatter.

What 'Reenactment' is (and what it is not, yet)

Here is the shape of it so far: 'Reenactment' is Singer's second feature after his 2023 Netflix thriller 'Reptile,' which turned into a legit streaming hit. This one is gearing up to shoot in Los Angeles, with Black Label Media and 193 Management producing. International sales are being handled by 193's Patrick Wachsberger at the American Film Market. Deadline says de Armas is in final talks to join the cast. Storyline and release date? Still under wraps.

Who is doing what

  • Director: Grant Singer ('Reptile')
  • Cast: Cameron Diaz, Benicio del Toro; Ana de Armas in final negotiations
  • Producers: Molly Smith, Trent Luckinbill, Thad Luckinbill for Black Label Media
  • Executive producers: Rachel Smith, Bradley Thomas, Ashley Stern, Rick Yorn, Scott Greenberg
  • Companies: Black Label Media and 193 Management
  • Sales: Patrick Wachsberger (193) handling international at AFM
  • Location: Preparing to film in Los Angeles

Why this lineup makes sense

Diaz only recently jumped back into acting after a decade away, returning with 'Back in Action.' Pairing her with del Toro and de Armas feels like a deliberate swing for a high-profile, character-forward thriller or drama (that is me reading the tea leaves — the logline is still secret). Singer coming off a buzzy streaming hit helps, too.

Where everyone is coming from

De Armas, an Oscar nominee for 'Blonde,' just led the 'John Wick' spinoff 'Ballerina,' which is slated for June 2025. She also turned up in Ron Howard's 'Eden,' which premiered at the 2024 Toronto International Film Festival.

As for del Toro, trade coverage frames him as rolling into this after another well-received turn. One note in the reporting mentions a project called 'One Battle After Another' as a recent standout; if that title made you squint, same here — but that is how it is being referenced right now.

The catch

No plot description, no release window. Just a strong package, LA production gearing up, and AFM activity — which is usually a sign the team wants this moving soon. If anything else leaks (or if 'One Battle After Another' gets clarified), I will update.
