It looks like Katy Perry has managed to upset a huge part of the American Idol fandom.

American Idol has seemingly been around forever, as this reality singing competition is single-handedly responsible for all the other singing shows that came after it, as the winning formula it first presented was so successful that other networks tried their hardest to replicate it.

Now in its 21st season, American Idol is definitely struggling to appeal to modern audiences, as for some reason ABC's producers refuse to update the show, keeping it identical to what it was almost 20 years ago. However, despite the decline in quality, it is still a very popular series, and the celebrity judges are to thank for that.

Katy Perry's celebrity status as a renowned pop singer has not prevented fans from criticizing her role as a judge on American Idol season 21.

Perry came under fire for her behavior during the audition process, as many people noted that the singer treated many of the contestants unfairly to make herself look better.

Despite being insanely popular, for some reason Perry still tries to draw even more attention to herself, often overshadowing the contestants during their own auditions.

Fans argue that American Idol should be about the future stars and not the current ones, but with the 21st season seemingly focusing only on Katty Perry, it looks like the show's producers are not really understanding the fans' wishes.

Not only does Perry draw all the attention to herself with her wild antics, but she often forces the contestants to sing her own songs during the audition process, which makes both her fellow judges and the viewers really uncomfortable. Of course, American Idol's producers will allow Perry to do almost anything since she is the most popular person on the show, but the patience of the fans is not limitless and they might stop watching the show altogether if Perry's attitude is not fixed.
