Amanda Seyfried Had the Best Reaction to WGA Strike on 2023 Met Gala Red Carpet
If only everyone had as much common sense as she does.
Met Gala 2023, which was held on May 1, remained a big news item for less time than expected. Why is that, you might wonder? Because the Writers Guild of America went on a strike starting from May 2, as it failed to reach an agreement with the Alliance of Producers in their negotiations.
Naturally, the strike did not come out of the blue and was already a hot topic the day before its official announcement. At the Met Gala, a journalist from Variety took an opportunity to ask Amanda Seyfried about what she thought about the strike.
The star answered truthfully, admitting that she is 'not in the room,' but going by the opinion of her writer friends, the strike was definitely going to happen. In addition, fans just loved Amanda's comment on the whole situation, as it was so common sense-ish and sincere:
'I don't get what the problem is,' Seyfried said, 'Everything changed with streaming, and everybody needs to be compensated for their work. That's f***ing easy!'
Well, apparently, Amanda does get what the problem is and even knows the perfect way to resolve the issue, as she outlined in her comment at the Gala. Fans on Twitter applauded the actress' words, calling her reaction to the strike the best so far.
Of course, with a net worth of $16 million, Seyfried is relatively safe from the issues that are currently facing America's writers, who don't earn anywhere as much as actors do. If you're worried about the future of your favorite shows and are generally annoyed with the professionals going on strike again (as the last one happened in 2007–2008, also shaking the industry quite a bit), you must keep in mind that writing scripts does not actually pay well, unless you're a big name with lots of connections in the world of film and TV.
Echoing Amanda Seyfried's comment at the Met Gala, one of the most common sentiments on Twitter is, 'pay the writers.' And we totally support the demand, hoping that the conflict between the WGA and the Alliance of Producers will soon be resolved.
