Alyssa Farah Griffin Reveals the Real Reason Behind Her 3-Day Absence from The View
After missing three episodes of The View, co-host Alyssa Farah Griffin says a stomach virus sidelined her, but she’s on the mend and will be back soon.
If you have been wondering why Alyssa Farah Griffin has been MIA on The View for the last three episodes, she finally explained it herself: it was a stomach bug, not drama. And yes, she says she will be back very soon.
What happened
Griffin posted an update on Instagram, saying she has been sidelined by a stomach virus and is aiming to return to the table imminently. Not exactly ideal timing when you are well into a pregnancy.
"I have been down sick with a stomach virus but will hopefully be back on @theviewabc tomorrow. It is no fun being sick while 6 and a half months pregnant! Remember it is that time of the year - be smart, use hand sanitizer, stay home if you are sick!"
That lines up with what viewers saw on air. On the December 3 episode, Whoopi Goldberg opened the show by noting Griffin was out sick and sent her a quick get-well.
"Let’s tell you what’s going on today. Alyssa is out sick. We are waiting for her return, but she’s not been feeling well. So, get better soon."
Where The View lineup is right now
- Griffin has been a co-host on The View since 2022 and has become a core part of the panel. She is currently expecting her first child with husband Justin Griffin.
- The current roster alongside her is Joy Behar, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Ana Navarro.
- Outside the weekday show, Griffin also co-hosts The Weekend View, a program that kicks around entertainment and current events in a conversational format.
- Meanwhile, Whoopi just returned from her own two-week break. She was in Italy filming the long-running soap Un Posto Al Sole, and said she learned a lot doing a genre she had never acted in before.
So, the short version: Alyssa missed three episodes because of a stomach virus, she is nearly seven months pregnant, and she expects to be back any minute. Nothing messy here, just real-life timing and flu season doing its thing.
