Yes, Hemsworth is the new Geralt. Take a breath. Netflix announced the titles with fresh key art for each episode, and the show account on Instagram gave it an extra push. Behind the scenes, showrunner Lauren Schmidt Hissrich told Entertainment Weekly that the recast wasn’t a last-minute scramble; conversations were happening for a while before Hemsworth’s casting was confirmed in 2022. The short version: Henry Cavill had other roles he wanted to chase, and production didn’t want to chain him to the Path.
"You don't want to hold someone and force them to be doing something that they don't want to do. I think that's why it felt like a really symbiotic decision."
Hissrich also acknowledged the obvious: fans were always going to have thoughts about the switch. The team focused on how to announce it and how to make the change work on-screen, not pretend it wasn’t happening.
What Season 4 is actually about
Story-wise, we’re on a war-torn Continent with our trio scattered. Geralt (Liam Hemsworth), Yennefer (Anya Chalotra), and Ciri (Freya Allan) are separated and trying to navigate the fallout. Alongside them: Laurence Fishburne joins as Regis, with Eamon Farren back as Cahir, Anna Shaffer as Triss, and Joey Batey as Jaskier, among others.
What’s next
Season 5 will close out the show’s adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s saga, so this season is the ramp-up to the finish line.
