All the Office Fans Agree That a Reboot Would Be A Disaster in the Making
If you didn't cry at the finale of The Office, you don't have a soul.
If you haven't watched at least a few snippets of the lives of the Dunder Mifflin employees, you haven't seen the show at all. And if for some reason you haven't seen the US version of the show, now is the time to do so!
But don't count on sequels. Over the eight years of the series, our beloved characters have grown emotionally, started families, and found their place in life: what better ending could there be? The possibility of a reboot doesn't even seem to be something fans want to hear about!
"Good shows continue in the cultural landscape after they end, in the US at least the posterchild of that statement is The Office. There is no reason to remake a show that is continues to make an impact on people well after the finale debutes," Reddit user scullys_alien_baby explains.
Indeed, the series is actively re-watched, and its influence is still strong. It would be strange to offer the audience an alternative to the still relevant series.

Another reason for not wanting a remake is the lack of main characters played by actors we love. Even if they were to appear as cameos, it is their chemistry that keeps us coming back to the show:
"They could have a few appearances, but what made the office work was the dynamic the characters all had with each other," Redditor bpanio shares.
Let us not forget that the American series is also a reboot, though! While the British original may not hold a candle to the American mockumentary sitcom for fans, it's still a great show, written by Ricky Gervais and Stephen Merchant. However, it is very doubtful that another remake could have achieved the same success.

The Office has become an international phenomenon, and in addition to the two versions we already know, we can count about 12 foreign adaptations. But even outside the United States, the American version is the most popular, thanks to the excellent script and acting, creating a unique and compelling media project.
Still, a Friends-style reunion or spin-off sounds like a great idea. Someone even came up with a concept for a spin-off where the new manager is Dwight Schrute trying to be a competent boss to the new recruits. Hopefully, the employees would not be under 'schrutiny'!
