Dead Rails just dropped a Christmas update stuffed with limited-time content — live from December 21 and gone January 4. Jump in now to grab fresh challenges, rewards, and surprises before they vanish.

Dead Rails just popped a Christmas event that is way more than a few snowflakes and a Santa hat. It is packed, it is weird in a couple of fun ways, and it is not sticking around long.

When it runs

The update went live on December 21, 2025 and is set to end January 4, 2025. Yes, those dates look backwards in time. Feels like a typo, but that is how it is listed. Either way, the event is limited-time, so check the in-game timer and do not wait.

New mode: Frost Bite

Forget the usual desert run. Frost Bite moves the action to a snowy route with a decked-out train that includes an extra furnace. Feed that furnace and it spits out presents. Not subtle, but effective.

Along the way, you must stop at three Elf Villages. At each one, you fight zombified Elves and free the ones locked up. Skipping any village triggers a Blizzard that freezes your train in place while Werewolves and more zombified Elves pile on. Save all the villages and the Elves show up at the finale to help you rescue Santa and take on the boss, Krampus Prime.

New train: Christmas Train

There is a limited train to unlock via Christmas Bundle #2 for either 499 Robux or 300 Bonds. It runs at a base 80 m/s and comes with an extra furnace on the carriage. You can toss in fuel or, yes, the bodies of dead enemies to spawn presents. Festive and mildly unhinged.

New classes

The event also drops three playable classes with some very event-specific perks and unlock paths:

  • Santa Class: Unlock by completing the Frost Bite event mode. Trait: guarantees Christmas map spawns on every map.
  • Krampus Class: Unlock by gifting content two times through the event system (read: send two gifts). Traits: guarantees Christmas map spawns on every map and, when you die, it spawns a friendly Krampus Prime.
  • Elf Class: Buy it in Christmas Bundle #2 for 499 Robux or 75 Bonds. Trait: starts with Ice Grenades that instantly freeze enemies for a short window.

Gifting leaderboard

If you are feeling generous (or competitive), there is a global Gifting Leaderboard. Gifting the new Christmas Train nets you +2 points; gifting any of the new classes gets you +1 point. Your total shows up worldwide in-game under your username.

Bottom line: a snowbound mode with mandatory rescue stops, a train that turns fuel and corpses into presents, three new event-forward classes, and a pay-it-forward leaderboard. It is a lot, it is limited, and it is clearly built to be played right now.
