Alien: Earth Season 2 Won't Start Filming Anytime Soon
Alien: Earth Season 2 is finally taking shape, but fans face a longer wait—Sydney Chandler says cameras won’t roll until later than expected.
Alien: Earth is warming back up. One of the show's leads just gave a clean, simple update on when the next chapter gets rolling, plus a little peek at where the production is heading.
Season 2 heads to camera in May
Sydney Chandler said Season 2 is slated to start filming in May. She shared the timeline during a Texas Film Awards press event, and also noted she hasn't seen any scripts yet. So yes, the train is leaving the station, but the passengers don't have their reading material.
New home base: Pinewood, with deep Alien DNA
After shooting the first season in Thailand, the production is shifting to Pinewood Studios in Buckinghamshire, just outside London. That's a very specific, franchise-nerd kind of move: the original 1979 Alien, Alien 3, and Prometheus all shot at Pinewood. If you&aposre going to build out this world, doing it on the franchise's old stomping grounds feels right.
"Super excited to start the journey of @alienearthfx season 2. World building in the Alien universe birthplace."
That was executive producer/producing director Dana Gonzales, who recently posted a Pinewood-flavored tease that the machine is starting to hum.
Where Season 1 left Wendy and the Lost Boys
Chandler plays Wendy, a hybrid who leads a crew known as the Lost Boys. The series lays out that they&aposre six prototype hybrids engineered by the Prodigy Corporation using terminally ill kids. In the Season 1 finale, Wendy turns the tables: she sparks a full-on revolt, topples the facility's leadership, and takes control of Neverland Island. That's a serious reset heading into Season 2.
The basics, at a glance
- Production start: May
- Location shift: Thailand (Season 1) to Pinewood Studios, Buckinghamshire (Season 2)
- Scripts status (from Chandler): still not in hand
- Creative: series created by Noah Hawley, set squarely in the Alien universe
- Release timing: FX hasn't announced a Season 2 date yet
Bottom line: cameras should roll soon, the show is moving onto hallowed Alien ground, and the story is poised to pick up after a decisive power grab. When FX locks a premiere window, I&aposll update. Until then, consider this the calm before the facehugger.
