Will Virgin River be renewed for Season 6?

Netflix's Virgin River seems to have everything a good comfort show needs — relatable characters, captivating romantic arcs, beautiful settings, sweet humor to lighten the mood, and just the right amount of drama.

The show tells the story of nurse Mel Monroe starting her life from scratch in a remote Northern California town.

People loved the series for its heartwarming small-town atmosphere where everyone knows and cares about each other. And, of course, every single fan of Virgin River is now waiting for Season 5 to premiere this summer.

Meanwhile, Virgin River star Alexandra Breckenridge is treating the show's fan base to some great news. The actress recently made a video on Cameo that was later shared by fans on social media. In the clip, she confirmed what her co-star Martin Henderson had said more than once before — July is the likely release month for Season 5.

No official statement has been made on the matter, but Seasons 3 and 4 both premiered in July, leaving fans hopeful for another July premiere. But there's even more exciting news that Alexandra shared!

In the same video, the actress hinted at the possibility of Virgin River being renewed for Season 6: 'Fingers crossed for Season 6!' Breckenridge said (via Hello! Magazine).

The big bosses at Netflix have yet to make an official announcement in regards to the future of Virgin River beyond the upcoming season. But many fans are hoping that Mel Monroe's story will not end with the finale. The fact that Breckenridge shares this sentiment is a good sign that a renewal is in sight.

People argue that a renewal of the romantic series for at least several more seasons would make sense, as the show is based on Robyn Carr's book series consisting of 22 novels. Besides, the show's pace has been rather slow, which means that more episodes are required to tell the full story. Source material and audience attention are definitely not an issue for Virgin River, so fans hope that the beloved characters will stay with them for many years to come.
