Brace for a longer hiatus—Ahsoka season 2 is farther off than fans hoped.

Well, this is not the update Ahsoka fans wanted. Disney rolled out its latest release slate during the Q4 earnings call and quietly left Ahsoka season 2 off the list. That raises a pretty obvious question: if it is not on the 2026 schedule for Disney Plus, are we staring down a 2027 launch?

What just happened

To be clear, Disney never gave season 2 an official date. But with filming reportedly wrapping in September 2025, the safe bet was always 2026. Season 1 landed back in August 2023, so the wait has already felt long. Seeing the show missing from Disney's updated calendar has fans reading the tea leaves, and the leaves are spelling out 'delay.'

Fans are not subtle about this

Reactions ran the gamut from bummed to furious. A lot of people are dreading a four-year gap between seasons, which would be a wild choice for a show that left everyone hanging.

'Really hope it is just a fuck up because I am so excited for season 2 and if I have to wait another whole year I am going to be so so sad.'

Others were less charitable about a potential four-year wait, and some are just tired of how long big-budget TV takes to make. Hard to argue with the last one.

Where season 2 picks up

The word is there will not be a time jump to start the new season. That means we head straight back to Peridea with Ahsoka and Sabine still stranded after Grand Admiral Thrawn slipped away. Beyond that, story details are locked up tighter than a Jedi holocron.

Who is back (and who is new)

  • Rosario Dawson returns as Ahsoka Tano, Anakin Skywalker's former Jedi apprentice.
  • Natasha Liu Bordizzo is back as Mandalorian warrior Sabine Wren.
  • Mary Elizabeth Winstead reprises Hera Syndulla, now a New Republic general.
  • Hayden Christensen appears again as Anakin Skywalker.
  • Rory McCann (yes, the Hound from Game of Thrones) takes over as Baylan Skoll, stepping in for the late Ray Stevenson.

The gap problem

If the show really slips to 2027, that is a four-year stretch between seasons. For a series that ended on a cliffhanger, that is... ambitious. Maybe Disney is just shuffling the deck and will add it back to the 2026 slate later. Until they say otherwise, though, it is fair to temper expectations.

No official release window, no plot breakdown, and a conspicuous absence from the latest slate. That is where things stand. When Disney stops being coy, I will update you. In the meantime, the galaxy far, far away still has plenty of movies and shows lining up to fill the gap.
