Summary

  • Season 5 of Fargo has just been released.
  • The new installment has been well received by viewers.
  • Fans are looking forward to future episodes of the fifth season.

It's been a day since Season 5 of FX's hit anthology series Fargo premiered, and the new installment has already gotten fans talking. Set in Minnesota and North Dakota, this season revolves around Dorothy Lyon, portrayed by Ted Lasso's Juno Temple, as she faces the consequences of her past mistakes that keep coming back to haunt her. Only two episodes have aired so far, but fans of the show seem to be most impressed with the fifth installment.

The reason for the audience's favorable reception of Fargo's new season may lie in the fact that it appears to be much better than Season 4. Debuting in 2014, Noah Hawley's anthology series quickly earned the title of one of FX's flagship shows. Fargo's Western ambiance and intriguing plots captivated hordes of viewers. So far, Season 5 looks pretty impressive, but there are doubts about the future of the current installment.

Outstanding Performance

Although the audience has only had a glimpse of Season 5 of Fargo, it's already clear that the showrunners approached this installment with much more dedication. This is especially evident in the scores that the two currently released episodes boast – 8.4 and 8.3 on IMDb, respectively. While these aren't particularly high, it's worth noting that the average score for Season 4 was 7.5.

On Rotten Tomatoes, Fargo's fifth season was heavily lauded by critics, who gave it a 97% approval rating. In contrast, the fourth installment only had an 84% rating, lagging behind every other season of the anthology series.

Viewers' Opinions

Apparently, viewers are still excited about Fargo, as they have admittedly been waiting for a great comeback of the beloved show since the failure of the fourth season. Interestingly, many viewers are not only impressed by the exciting story, but also by the cast's performances.

'Juno Temple is incredible. Loved her in Ted Lasso, but this elevates her as an actress more than I'd expected from just one episode. What an unbelievable pilot performance,' one Reddit user commented on the new season.

Ultimately, however, it is the story that Season 5 explores that grabs fans' attention. As a result, they can't help but want to watch more episodes as soon as they're released.

'Count me in, I am so intrigued to see where this goes. Can't wait for Jon Hamm to get some screen time, by all critical accounts his performance is one of the best things about the season. I'm excited,' another Redditor wrote.

Episode 3 will premiere on 28th November.
