The singer's sibling shared an update on her health.

It is part of our social nature to sympathize and condole with people who are ill, even if we barely know them or, in fact, never seen them in real life. Right now, Celine Dion's fans all over the world are on their toes, waiting desperately for any updates on the star's health and expressing their best wishes for Celine and her family.

At the end of 2022, the iconic singer shared heart-breaking news that she was seriously ill. Celine Dion has stiff person syndrome, a rare autoimmune disorder that causes stiffness and spasms across a person's body.

'[Muscle spasms] sometimes cause difficulties when I walk, and it's not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I am used to,' the singer shared.

Dion was forced to cancel her world tour due to the debilitating disease, hoping that fans would understand and forgive her. So how is the star doing now?

The Canadian singer and actress rose to fame in the late 80s as the winner of 1988 Eurovision contest, where she represented Switzerland with a French ballad. In the US, Celine gained greater recognition two years later after premiering her first English-language album, Unison.

Following that, the star released many hit songs, including the Titanic soundtrack 'My Heart Will Go On,' and appeared in a number of movies over the years. Celine Dion's most recent role was a cameo in Love Again, a 2023 romantic comedy starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan.

After her devastating diagnosis was revealed, fans have been wondering how Celine is coping. Her elder sister Claudette recently shared an update on the singer's health in an interview for the Quebec show Bonsoir Bonsoir.

'We're all crossing our fingers, and I'm glad people are concerned,' Celine's sister said (per Hello). 'She is working hard, and we are confident that we will succeed. It can't be a story like this.'

Although stiff person syndrome is incurable, its symptoms can be managed with anticonvulsants and spasm-relievers, as well as anti-anxiety medication that helps to prevent stress. Even if Celine won't be able to do world tours anymore, fans of the singer are hoping she will be able to fight the illness and release new hits in the future.
