The fans have some pretty compelling arguments for that.

Bridgerton Season 3 hasn't even gotten its premiere date, and fans are already discussing Season 4. And who can blame them? We know that Bridgerton has been renewed for two more chapters, and the main story of the fourth season might not be as straightforward as one would think.

The Netflix series has already changed the order of Julia Quinn's novels for Season 3, putting the story of Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington before that of Benedict Bridgerton, who is the lead in Book 3. And now there's a plausible fan theory going around that the showrunners are going to do the same thing again with the fourth season.

'I think Eloise will be the S4 lead,' a Bridgerton fan wrote on Reddit. 'Chris Fulton is contracted through Season 4, and the fact that they have cast and shown Phillip in the first place is proof enough.'

The fan is referring to Bridgerton actor Chris Fulton, who viewers know as Marina Thompson's husband, Phillip Crane. If the show's plot goes Quinn's way, Sir Phillip will become Eloise Bridgerton's main love interest.

Besides the fact that Bridgeron has been parading Sir Phillip around since Season 1 and Benedict's love interest is nowhere in sight, fans have other arguments for Eloise's solo season being the fourth.

The second Bridgerton daughter is consistently given bigger subplots than her brother. Season 3 will undoubtedly feature a major storyline involving Eloise's feud with Penelope over the latter's Lady Whistledown secret. This will certainly put Eloise in the lead role and make her the perfect material for next season's spotlight.

On top of that, in the novel series, Eloise's story begins as Penelope and Colin develop a relationship. She becomes Sir Phillip's penfriend after Marina dies, and the two gradually fall in love.

Probably the biggest argument in favor of the fan theory is the fact that only four seasons of Bridgerton have been greenlit so far. Since Netflix isn't the most reliable partner when it comes to continuing shows, Shondaland might want to wrap up Eloise's storyline before Benedict's in case Bridgerton doesn't get Season 5.

Considering all of the above, it looks like the second Bridgerton may have to sit out another social season. Sorry, Benedict fans.
