Stephen King’s chilling multiverse lands on Netflix today with Castle Rock, the acclaimed Hulu-born series. The two-season thriller stitches together the author’s iconic lore for a binge-worthy scare.

Netflix just scooped up one of Hulu's better Stephen King projects. If you missed it the first time (or you want to revisit the weird, supernatural King-verse), you can dive in right now.

What moved where

'Castle Rock' — the Stephen King-inspired series that originally ran for two seasons on Hulu — is now streaming on Netflix starting today. Both seasons are available. The show first premiered in 2018, created by Sam Shaw and Dustin Thomason, with J.J. Abrams and Stephen King among the executive producers.

What the show actually is

Each season tells a different story set in Castle Rock, Maine — a fictional town King uses all the time in his books. You get familiar names, familiar vibes, and plenty of dread, but the seasons are separate. Season 2 is a standalone story, so you can jump in there if you want without homework.

  • Season 1 cast: Andre Holland, Melanie Lynskey, Bill Skarsgard, Jane Levy, and Sissy Spacek.
  • Season 2 cast: Lizzy Caplan, Paul Sparks, Barkhad Abdi, Yusra Warsama, Elsie Fisher, Matthew Alan, and Tim Robbins.

Does it keep going?

Nope. After two seasons, the series wrapped as planned. No cliffhanger purgatory here.

Awards check

The show picked up the Writers Guild of America Award in 2019 for Long Form Original. It also landed multiple Saturn Award nominations, including Best Streaming Horror & Thriller Series, Best Supporting Actress in Streaming Presentation for Sissy Spacek, and Best Action/Thriller Television Series.

Where to watch

Both seasons of 'Castle Rock' are streaming on Netflix today. If you never had Hulu or you just want to revisit some expertly moody King-adjacent storytelling, now is your shot.
