8. The English (2022, miniseries)
Despite starring Emily Blunt, this series went practically unnoticed as it was eclipsed by Taylor Sheridan's westerns. The plot revolves around an Englishwoman who travels to the American Midwest in 1890, seeking revenge for her son's death.
7. The Terror (2018, 2 seasons)
Although this quasi-historical horror is based on a novel by renowned author Dan Simmons, The Terror also failed to capture the public's imagination. The plot is grounded in true events surrounding a lost British expedition somewhere in the Arctic in the 1840s. The second season takes us to 20th-century Japan, but it's no less compelling.
6. Reservation Dogs (2021, 3 seasons)
Taika Waititi is recognized for producing What We Do in the Shadows, based on his comedy film, but his teen drama Reservation Dogs is virtually unknown. The story follows four Native American teenagers in rural Oklahoma with high aspirations for the future.
5. Orphan Black (2013, 5 seasons)
This thought-provoking biopunk drama narrates the story of a streetwise orphan who finds the body of a woman who bears an eerie resemblance to herself. Unraveling the truth, she discovers that she is a clone and that a powerful biotech corporation is behind the conspiracy.
4. The Americans (2013, 6 seasons)
The Americans is a suspense-filled historical series about the clash between the FBI and the KGB during the Cold War, with a seemingly ordinary American family trapped in the middle. Except that the husband and wife are Soviet spies.
3. Warrior (2019, 3 seasons)
Based on a concept by Bruce Lee, the series transports us to San Francisco's Chinatown in the 1870s. It combines elements of crime drama, political thriller, police procedural, and western.
