6 Times Big Bang Theory Crossed the Line and Made Us Cringe
TV shows make us feel a whole range of emotions, cringe included.
The Big Bang Theory is all about laughs (and you can hear them constantly in the background). This hit sitcom cheered up many of us during its 12-year run, but there were still a few moments we wish we hadn't seen. Here are six of them in our list.
Penny's Physics Joke (Episode 19, Season 2)
As a new girl, Alicia, is moving into an apartment in the building, Leonard, Howard, and Raj are helping her with the tech, and Penny walks in. After a small talk with the new neighbor, Penny becomes jealous of the guys' attention and decides to entertain them with a physics joke. It starts off nicely but gets 'a little insulting,' as Leonard puts it, making us cringe.
Leonard Watching Football (Episode 6, Season 3)
As Penny and Leonard are dating, he wants to impress her friends who happen to be big football fans. While Leonard knows nothing about the game, he learns the rules and tactics from Sheldon and, wearing an oversized football top, sets off to watch a game with Penny and her friends. Everyone, including viewers, feels uncomfortable with his forced and out-of-place reactions.
Webcam in a Teddy Bear (Episode 4, Season 4)
Howard uses a recording of Sheldon's voice to ask Penny to open her door, and she tells him she wouldn't have opened it had she known it was him after she found a webcam in the teddy bear he had given her.
Raj's Dream about Bernadette (Episode 14, Season 4)
Girlfriendless, Raj struggles with his self-esteem. Bernadette reassures him that he's sexy which prompts him to daydream about Howard leaving for Israel and asking Raj to 'satisfy Bernadette's needs' in his absence.
Howard's Kissing Machine (Episode 2, Season 5)
Leonard struggles to maintain a long-distance relationship with Priya who has returned to India. Howard offers to help him and demonstrates a kissing machine that transmits smooching moves from one device to another. To show it in operation, he and Raj kiss with the help of this machinery while Leonard is witnessing the process that makes him and us cringe.
Amy Picking at Wil Wheaton (Episode 7, Season 6)
As Amy is helping Sheldon film another episode of his flag show, she intentionally nags at Wil Wheaton, who has agreed to participate in an episode about the Star Trek flags, for his poor acting.
