6 Real Housewives Spin-offs So Lame, Everyone Forgot About Them Already
It seemed it couldn't get any worse but…
Debuting in 2006, the Real Housewives franchise began with The Real Housewives of Orange County, which explored the lives of a group of affluent women from the eponymous district in California. Despite the dubious premise, the show proved popular with audiences and spawned countless spin-offs.
Here are the six worst Real Housewives continuations you may have never even heard of, ranked by their IMDB score.
6. Teresa Checks In (2015, 3 episodes, 6.5)
This reality show followed Teresa Giudice from The Real Housewives of New Jersey, documenting her family life and struggles as she faced fraud charges and served time in prison, forcing her family to adjust to life without her. Given the premise's controversy, it's no surprise the show wasn't renewed for a second season and failed to leave a significant mark in history.
5. The Kandi Factory (2013, 8 episodes, 6.1)
If you believe that a singing contest and The Real Housewives are two incompatible concepts, you're mistaken. Revolving around Kandi Burruss, a Real Housewives of Atlanta alumna, this spin-off followed her endeavours as a music producer while she attempted to help aspiring artists launch their careers. The concept's absurdity ensured there was just one season of this particular series. However, there were other Kandi-centred spin-offs.
4. Karen’s Grande Dame Reunion (2022, 2 episodes, 5.8)
This most recent spin-off is almost unknown to fans. Centred on Karen Huger from The Real Housewives of Potomac, the show followed her attempts to reconcile with her family, the Woodens. It quickly proved to be a colossal flop from the get-go and was cancelled after just two episodes.
3. Bethenny & Fredrik (2018, 8 episodes, 5.5)
While it wasn't The Real Housewives of New York's Bethenny Frankel's first spin-off, it was her least successful. The show featured her running her real estate business in the Big Apple alongside Frederik Eklund. It was plain boring, not to mention lacking the typical mindlessness of the franchise.
2. Tamra's OC Wedding (2013, 3 episodes, 4.5)
Despite the premise falling within the usual Real Housewives framework, this show, which revolved around Tamra Barney from The Real Housewives of Orange County and her upcoming wedding to Eddie Judge, failed to impress viewers and largely faded into oblivion.
1. Date My Ex: Jo & Slade (2008, 8 episodes, 2.1)
Perhaps the most dubious and, consequently, the least remembered spin-off was this one, centred on Jo De La Rosa from The Real Housewives of Orange County. Male contestants were invited to compete for the woman's heart under the watchful eye of her ex, Slade Smiley, with whom they lived under the same roof during the show. Fortunately, this reality show didn't last long.
