56 Days just hit streaming, but the real cliffhanger is off-screen: will the Dove Cameron–Avan Jogia erotic crime thriller return for Season 2? Here’s what we know so far.

Prime Video just dropped 56 Days, and yes, the immediate question is simple: are we getting a Season 2 or is this a one-and-done thriller?

Where things stand right now

  • Renewal status: no second season order yet, and no cancellation either
  • Release: the eight-episode first season premiered February 18, 2026, and it is all available to binge
  • Source material: based on Catherine Ryan Howard's 2021 psychological thriller, which is a standalone novel with no sequels
  • What that means: the show could live as a limited series unless the creative team decides to build beyond the book
  • Trailer timing: the official trailer landed January 21 on Prime Video's YouTube channel

What the show is

56 Days is an erotic crime thriller developed by Lisa Zwerling and Karyn Usher. It follows Oliver Kennedy and Ciara Wyse, who dive into a fast, high-heat relationship during the COVID-19 lockdown. Fifty-six days later, police turn up at Oliver's apartment and discover a brutally murdered, unidentified body. From there, the series peels back the timeline to reveal who these people really are and how everything went sideways.

Cast and who is behind it

Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia lead the series as Ciara and Oliver. They are joined by Megan Peta, Dorian Missick, Karla Souza, Patch Darragh, Kira Guloien, and more. Zwerling and Usher steer the adaptation, translating the book's twisty structure into an eight-part binge.

Season 2 odds

With the full season only just out, the streamer has not made a call on renewal. The book stands alone, which naturally points to a finite run, but this genre has a long history of follow-up chapters when audiences show up. Bottom line: waiting game. If the numbers hit, the door is open for an expansion beyond the page.
