When Calls the Heart? Rather, When Calls the Lazy Writing.

October 15 can now officially be called a Day of disappointment, as the final episode of When Calls the Heart Season 10 proved to be a huge disservice to many characters and fans alike. Whether you're Team Lucas or Team Nathan, it's hard to deny that the love triangle with Elizabeth turned into a silly drama of unmotivated radical actions, shifting choices, and burning emotions.

Unfortunately, the 'Starry Nights' episode was mediocre, to say the least. There were enough crazy plot twists and cliffhangers to make us wonder: What on earth was that?

5. Henry leaving Hope Valley (again)

Henry is probably one of the most, if not the most, complex characters, who has evolved from a cynical villain responsible for the tragedy in the coal mines to a compassionate man who has become a godfather to Goldie. Alas, the screenwriters once again decided to send him to visit Abigail, something that has already happened and ended in disappointment time after time. Will Lori Loughlin as Abigail return in Season 11? The chances are incredibly slim, and therefore this plot twist was simply pointless.

4. Students disliking Lucas

Another questionable plot twist was how undeservedly Elizabeth's students started talking about Lucas. Sure, they don't know the details of the drama and so they express their disappointment about what happened to their favorite teacher. But to openly hate a man who did so much for Hope Valley? Odd.

3. Another love shuffling

We couldn't help but mention this wacky switcheroo of feelings when Elizabeth, having decided to break off her engagement to Lucas, began to reconsider her feelings for Nathan, an example of how inconsistent the writing was. Elizabeth unmotivatedly became cold to Lucas, and just as uncharacteristically, the previously sensible and mature Elizabeth prostrated herself before Mountie.

2. Rosemary's pressure for votes

Of course, this is a romance series, so it would be odd for the writers to require a serious depiction of how elections work, but this particular plot device was just silly. Since a few dozen people in Hope Valley didn't want to vote, Rosemary pressured them to do so, which resulted in Lucas winning the election for governor.

1. That final cliffhanger

The unfortunate Lucas has been mistreated by the writers all season, as his entire romantic storyline with Elizabeth, all their previous talk of dreams, has simply been invalidated. And aside from winning the election, the only time our attention was drawn back to him was when something terrible happened to him in Capitol City. We can only hope that the writers don't write him out in Season 11.
