Or what makes the show different.

Reality shows are, to put it mildly, weird. While the desire to watch other people go about their lives is understandable from a psychological perspective, it's unclear why participants would want to subject themselves to such scrutiny.

Regardless, reality TV is abundant, and each show has its own unique concept.

Netflix's Love is Blind definitely stands out. Since its premiere on the platform in 2020, four seasons have come out, with Season 4 still in progress. The show features thirty male and female strangers from the same area as they try to find love. Naturally, there are rules, and here are five of the most bizarre ones (we didn't attempt to rank them since they're all equally messed up).

  • 10-Day Isolation

As the show's name suggests, participants of the opposite sex can't see each other. Surprisingly, they are confined to secure areas to ensure they never cross paths. That means the participants only have access to their rooms and a lounge, where they can interact with other contestants of the same sex.

  • Dating Everyone

During the initial stages, contestants must go on dates with everyone from the opposite group, even if they've already taken a liking to someone. As you can imagine, dating fifteen people a day can get quite intense.

  • Blind Betrothal

Arguably the craziest aspect of Love is Blind is that contestants are expected to get engaged after only a few blind dates, as if it weren't difficult enough when you know your partner well. They can only move on to the next stage of the show after getting engaged.

  • Pre-Wedding Honeymoon

Following the betrothals, couples go on honeymoons. In addition to being misplaced within the wedding process, this experience, which should be the most intimate for a couple, is shared with other 'successful' contestants.

  • Alter Nos

After finally seeing their fiancés and getting to know them better in every respect, Love is Blind contestants can break off their engagements.

However, it seemed to be a rule in seasons 1-3 that they should wait until they are at the altar to reveal whether or not they actually want to go through with the wedding.

As bizarre as these rules may seem, they make Love is Blind truly unique. And since it has run for four seasons, it doesn't seem anyone minds them too much.
