The rules add intrigue for viewers but are agonizing for the contestants.

Claim to Fame is a reality show of a fairly standard format. Twelve contestants, who are relatives of famous stars, move into a luxury mansion. Their goal is to conceal their identity for as long as possible while guessing the identities of the other contestants based on clues, espionage, plotting, and of course, pure intuition.

But the rules don't stop there. Throughout the two seasons, we have seen that the contestants don't simply live idle lives in the mansion: isolated from society, they take action to win and outwit the other guessers. So it's no surprise that the producers have introduced a number of additional rules to make the reality show more complex and appealing for fans.

These rules were shared by executive producers Eric Detwiler and Scott Teti, and some of them are absolutely bizarre.

5. The relative may be not alive

'That was the case with Pepper Martin, whose grandfather Dean Martin passed away many years ago, but whose music and legendary status as an American icon continues to live on,' the execs said.

While the rule sounds reasonable, both viewers and cast most likely think of living stars when guessing the contestants' identities. So naturally, the rule is rather confusing, as it allows the celebrity relatives to better hide their identities through false speculation.

4. Contestants are not allowed to use any devices

Use and possession of electronic devices is forbidden during filming. One again, the rule seems quite logical, as it prevents the cast from scouting for additional information online, but it's probably too harsh on the contestants. Apparently, their families are only allowed to reach the producers but can't contact their closed ones directly while they're involved in the show.

3. Constantly spying on the opponents is part of the game

It's hard to imagine the level of stress and anxiety the contestants are facing on the show. Constantly watched by their fellow cast members, stalking and eavesdropping on them, the participants must think of every single step they make and can't just leave their personal stuff lying around if they don't want their identities to be revealed.

2. Producers choose roommates

'We want to get right to the good stuff!' the execs explained the rule.

Well, we can only offer our condolences to the contestants who don't get to choose who they live with.

1. Contestants have to say the relative's name correctly

How frustrating it must be when you have correctly guessed the identity of your opponent, but in a fit of passion, emotion, and anxiety over the outcome, you either accidentally mixed up the order of the first and last name or mispronounced it. And no, this does not count as a correct guess!

The final two episodes of Claim to Fame Season 2 will air on August 28 on ABC.
