Fans still have high hopes for the finale.

Justified's Deputy US Marshal Raylan Givens was known for his strong sense of justice, operating solely by his inner moral compass without always following the letter of the law. That is exactly why fans of Timothy Olyphant's character were perplexed by how much Givens changed in the sequel City Primeval, apparently loosening his grip and working within the confines of a corrupt bureaucracy.

While there is only one episode of City Primeval left to air, it feels like the show has not progressed much since the beginning, as we still haven't seen any decisive action on the part of the protagonist. Even though the chances for a satisfying finale are pretty slim, fans are not giving up hope, suggesting ideas for how the final episode might redeem the entire series.

5. Raylan and Mansell's uninterrupted showdown

Episode 7 finally pitted Raylan against Clement Mansell. Even though Raylan didn't want a bloodbath, just a rational discussion about the criminal's prospects, the scene turned out to be completely anticlimactic, as both ended up being kidnapped by the Albanians.

You've Been Watching Justified: City Primeval All Wrong, Apparently

Considering that Mansell is still somehow the main antagonist, fans expect to see the final showdown between him and Raylan in the finale. Not saying this will make the series look better as a whole, but at least the conclusion would be satisfying.

4. The entire Detroit PD exposed

The original Justified always questioned the competence and honesty of bureaucratized law enforcement. Fans say it would be a great final twist if the book is revealed to contain the names of all the corrupt cops from Detroit PD, including those Raylan has worked with on the show.

3. Good-ol' characters come to help

A lot of fans are wondering why the writers couldn't have added at least a little cameo with their favorite Justified characters. Imagine if Rachel and Tim came to Raylan's rescue and Boyd Crowder got out of prison? That would work as a nice tie-in and perhaps set up the plot of the following sequels.

2. A climactic fight

No Justified installment is complete without Raylan shooting bad guys. Yes, the protagonist has become more mature and calmer with age, but we know he is still the same old-school Marshal with his own sense of justice that's different from the law.

Can you imagine it will be the Albanian mob and not Raylan who wins in the finale?

1. Time to let go

As much as we love Justified and wish the story would go on forever, it's clear that the writers won't be able to please everyone and some aspects of the show are bound to lose relevance over time. So perhaps the City Primeval finale should put an end to Raylan's story once and for all, allowing him to retire and focus on his daughter?

The final episode of City Primeval will be released on August 29.
