5 Vampire Diaries Characters That Were Killed Off Too Soon, According to Reddit
Who would you like to spend more time with from The Vampire Diaries?
The Vampire Diaries universe is populated by dozens of major and minor characters, many of whom possess some sort of supernatural power. Some of these characters' arcs lasted for seasons and felt drawn out, while others ended in a few episodes but were so compelling that fans wanted more.
Here are five The Vampire Diaries characters fans wish they had spent more time with before their lives were cut short, as discussed on Reddit.
Luke Parker
It doesn't sit well with fans that The Vampire Diaries has overused the 'bury your gays' trope. One of the LGBTQ+ characters who could have lived longer was witch Luke Parker, who died after unsuccessfully merging with his sibling Kai. Fans wish the writers had at least given Luke a love arc before killing him off.
Mason Lockwood
The werewolf and uncle to Tyler Lockwood only lasted one season, and many viewers feel he died way too soon. Mason was one of the most handsome characters on the show and had great chemistry with both female and male co-stars. Fans wish they could have seen more of the frenemy dynamic between him and Damon.
Sheila Bennett
Another character that fans feel should have been given more screen time is Sheila Bennett aka Grams, who was a powerful witch and Bonnie Bennett's grandmother. She died after using all of her powers for a spell that ended up being of no importance to the plot. Many fans are angry that such an inspiring character was killed off for nothing, and that the Bennett witches didn't get the attention they deserved.
Kai Parker
Not all characters should have been kept longer because they were good or inspiring — some of the evil ones would have made the plot more interesting. One of such characters is the siphon-vampire hybrid Kai Parker. He was the antagonist of Season 6 and is still considered by many to be one of the best villains of the later seasons. Kai was decapitated by Alaric Saltzman only five episodes after his introduction, and fans think the show could have gotten more out of him if he had died later.
Qetsiyah and Silas
The Vampire Diaries seems to have had a problem with its villains. Each new antagonist had to be stronger than the one before, but for some reason, the writers refused to show their full potential.
As a result, fans feel that Qetsiyah and Silas could have been much more than they ended up being.
Qetisyah and Silas were both super-powerful witches connected to the immortality and doppelganger storylines. They both died in Season 5 before they could fully unleash their powers. Fans feel that with their almost limitless powers, they had all the potential to become the final villains and trigger some of the best storylines in the show.
