5 Vampire Diaries Characters Fans Would Happily Erase From Existence
The show wouldn't be any worse without them.
Over the course of eight seasons, The Vampire Diaries delighted fans with no small number of exciting storylines and events. However, there were serious shortcomings to the show as well, especially after Nina Dobrev left the project, and the subsequent two seasons upset viewers with their deteriorating writing quality.
Many of the show's problems have to do with how poorly the characters were written. Fans on Reddit recently remembered some of them, agreeing that The Vampire Diaries wouldn't suffer at all if these characters were absent from the story altogether.
5. Lily
Fans say the character of Lily Salvatore, Damon and Stefan's mother, was a completely pointless addition to the show. She didn't provide any significant background for the main characters, and her arc was boring and not moving the story forward. Not to mention the Heretics, who were completely unnecessary!
4. Nadia
One of the series' most annoying characters, according to the Redditors, is Katerina Petrova's daughter Nadia. She was introduced so abruptly in Season 5 that viewers didn't have much time to understand the character, as her backstory was obviously lacking. Also, despite all the tragedy in her and Katerina's life, their mother-daughter dynamic should have been presented in a more compelling way.
3. Cade
Season 8 was the show's worst, and the introduction of Arcadius did not help. Despite all the interesting lore surrounding the character, many fans found him boring, as the writers never gave Cade the opportunity to develop into a truly dangerous villain. In addition, people say Wolé Parks' acting wasn't at its best.
2. Tyler
Though Ty did have some character growth, most fans find him to be the most unpleasant character. He was awful to his best friend's family, said horrible things about his sister Vici and even tried to rape her, and he tried to beat Matt to a bloody pulp at one point. As if this wasn't enough, Tyler's storyline was just too repetitive and formulaic.
1. Travelers
The number-one useless addition to the series is not a particular character but a group of them. The whole community of ancient witches known as the Travelers did not enrich the story with any interesting developments, and among them, Silas is considered one of the show's worst characters.
