5 Things Meghan Markle's Co-Stars Have Said About Her
The five nicest things anyone has ever said about the Duchess of Sussex.
Arguably, many women – and men alike – dream of marrying into royalty and earning the title of a prince or princess. This theme has been repeatedly explored in numerous books and films, with the 1997 movie The Beautician and the Beast being one of the most notable examples. The concept of a royal marrying a commoner may have seemed ludicrous a century ago, but it has evolved into a tangible reality in our times.
This reality was epitomised when Meghan Markle lived her own version of the Cinderella story by marrying Prince Harry. Subsequently, they chose to step away from their royal duties and relocated to Los Angeles, where Meghan had spent a significant portion of her life as an actress. Throughout her extensive career, she worked with numerous other actors, many of whom have a lot of good things to say about her.
Here are five reflections offered by Meghan Markle's co-stars:
1. She has what it takes to be royalty
Gregg Sulkin, a British-born actor who worked with Markle on the 2015 criminal drama Anti-Social, expressed admiration for her in a 2019 interview with Kristine Leahy. He nostalgically reminisced about how Meghan was indeed a real-life princess – 'one of the classiest and kindest people' he had ever met.
2. She is genuinely grateful and courteous
Simon Rex, Markle's co-star on Cuts, revealed in a 2022 interview with The Guardian that several tabloids had offered him money to fabricate a sexual relationship with Meghan.
'I was broke as fuck!' he said. 'I really needed the money. But I'll be on food stamps before I do that.'
So he declined a $70,000 offer. In appreciation, the Duchess of Sussex penned him a personal thank-you note that he cherishes to this day.
3. She is cordial and sympathetic
Abigail Spencer, Meghan co-star from Suits, publicly defended her via an Instagram post in 2021 after reports surfaced about Meghan's alleged bullying in the palace. Spencer remembered Meghan as kind and charitable, crediting her with helping her navigate a particularly difficult time.
4. She is resilient even in the darkest hour
In the 2017 documentary Prince Harry and Meghan: Truly, Madly, Deeply, Abby Wathen, who shared the screen with Markle in Random Encounters (2017), revealed a personal connection. Both actresses experienced marriage and divorce around the same time, but Wathem noted that the Duchess of Sussex remained resilient and handled the challenges with grace and dignity.
5. She is a pleasure to be around
Christian Keyes, despite being slapped by Markle on the set of Dysfunctional Friends, remembers her fondly. In a 2018 interview for People, he described Meghan as thoroughly likeable and an absolute pleasure to be around.
'She was great on set. She was super cool and approachable. She was a class act,' he remembered.
