5 Sweet Magnolias Characters Testing Fandom's Last Nerve
Who bugs you the most?
Sweet Magnolias Season 3 landed on Netflix on July 20 with 10 new episodes to continue the story of three friends living in a sweet Southern town. However, the return to the idyllic streets and venues of Serenity was not all kittens and rainbows.
Many fans noted that the quality of the series took a turn for the worse this season. Most of all, people are bugged that the characters that were always a nagging presence on the show became almost unbearable to watch.
Here are five Sweet Magnolias characters that annoy fans the most.
Dana Sue
Probably the most hated character on Sweet Magnolias is Brooke Elliott's Dana Sue. Fans say she is one of the most toxic female characters they have ever seen. Since Season 1, Dana Sue has been throwing tantrums at the slightest hint that she's not getting her way.
And it only got worse over time — a glaring lack of character development!
Helen
Heather Headley's character is the favorite of many fans, but Season 3 seems to have emphasized her worst qualities and left the best overboard.
The preaching, overreacting, and overdramatizing is hard to watch. Helen seems to speak only in wise sayings, never in real dialogue, and the break-up talk with Ryan was probably the worst scene in the history of television.
Bill
Bill Townsend is a cheater, a terrible husband and a not-so-good father, but that's not what annoys fans the most.
Aside from his obvious nastiness, Chris Klein's character is an absolute Southern cringe. Klein's acting is more reminiscent of an SNL Clint Eastwood impression than a believable performance.
Noreen
From day one on the show, Jamie Lynn Spears' Noreen has been a confusing character with a strange arc and motivations. White Noreen acts all sweet and innocent, her actions prove otherwise, which doesn't sit well with the fans.
First, she is a homewrecker who manipulates Bill and the whole town into caring about her. And now, she keeps Bill from seeing the baby… Sorry, but that is just not believable writing.
Isaac
The actions and attitudes of Chris Medlin's character don't seem to make any sense. Why does he treat Bill like the Antichrist when his surprise father never even knew about him? Why does he invite a pregnant stranger to live with him? Why is he so vengeful?
The character was never part of Sherryl Woods' book series, and fans say Isaac shouldn't have appeared on the show either.
