5 Reasons Fans Fed Up with Medusa on The Masked Singer Season 9
It seems she's only the judges' favorite.
Normally, fans have their likes and dislikes and don't see eye to eye when it comes to their favorite and least favorite contestants in reality shows.
However, in the case of The Masked Singer fans and their attitude towards one particular quarter finalist on Season 9, the opinion seems to be unanimous.
Appearing back in Episode 1 of the current Season 9, Medusa has overcome many difficulties during her epic run on the celebrity singing contest. She battled with the other contestants through the first three episodes of the show until she was eventually outdone by California Roll. Nevertheless, Medusa was kept by the panel of judges and continued her time on The Masked Singer.
As of the latest eleventh episode, she has sung eight songs in total — more than any other contestant this season — and made it to the quarter finals. But even though Medusa is apparently the judges' favorite, she does not have the same level of support from the audience, and here are just five reasons why.
First, many fans feel that Medusa has lasted for too long on The Masked Singer. Indeed, this contestant has been on the edge many times but always managed to stick around and make it to the next episode. And in the process, she has even managed to outdo her rivals in terms of the number of performances! To many fans, this doesn't seem to be fair.
Second, Medusa's singing voice comes across as very forced. Although the contestants' voices are normally altered digitally, hers sounds simply unnatural.
Third, Medusa pushes her vocals to the edge by doing excessive belting, which the audience perceives as mere screaming. On the other hand, some believe this shows her skills as a singer, but not many people seem to like that in general.
Medusa's other problem is that she tends to get over the top. Her stage presence is powerful — and even too powerful sometimes. Fans say they'd rather like her to take it down just a notch.
Lastly, and most importantly, it looks like Medusa's trying too hard. The Masked Singer is a take-it-easy show where nobody contends for their dear lives. After all, the contestants are already celebrities. And while Medusa is putting out her best for the show, some people don't appreciate it.
Despite all the criticism, we must recognize that this contestant has come a long way on the show. So, even if people don't find Medusa very likable, you have to agree that she is certainly admirable.
As only two episodes of The Masked Singer Season 9 are left, we are yet to see what awaits Medusa and the other finalists. Episode 12 will arrive on Fox on May 3, 2023.
