5 Outlander Episodes So Unbearable, Fans Hit 'Skip' Every Time
Some are just bad, and some are unbearable.
Throughout its 6-season run, Outlander has attracted a huge fan base that can't wait for the new chapter to premiere in June. As they wait for Season 7, fans are revisiting the show to refresh their memories of what transpired in previous seasons. But as it turns out, some episodes are hard to watch again.
The Starz show is highly praised for its authenticity and realism. Unfortunately, that means its creators do not shy away from showing highly violent and disturbing scenes of torture and sexual abuse. Here are the top five episodes featuring such graphic content that viewers may want to skip.
To Ransom a Man's Soul (S1E16)
The scenes of Jamie Fraser being tortured and assaulted by the show's main psycho, Black Jack Randall, in Wentworth Prison in the Season 1 finale haunt everyone who has seen them.
So not many viewers dare to revisit the harrowing episode, which definitely ranks among the most vicious hours in television history.
Never My Love (S5E12)
The horrific Season 1 finale is not the only Outlander episode to include a disturbing scene of sexual assault. In fact, the series is filled with graphic imagery of torture and abuse. Of course, the show's protagonist, Claire Fraser, has not escaped this fate either. In Never My Love, she is held hostage, beaten, and assaulted by the Browns.
Her husband eventually rescues her, but viewers prefer to skip the disturbing scene when re-watching the episode.
Faith (S2E7)
Another highly disturbing scene of sexual abuse of a minor by, surprise, surprise, Black Jack Randall in an episode titled Faith. Claire and Jamie's adopted son, Fergus, gets caught by Randall in a brothel trying to steal a perfume bottle. Black Jack then mistakes him for a child prostitute and has sex with him.
Viewers generally prefer to give this scene or even the entire episode a pass when re-watching the season.
La Dame Blanche (S2E4)
Many fans skip the episodes set in France, especially episode 4 of season 2, where Claire and Mary Hawkins are attacked on the streets of Paris and Mary is violated by the attackers. To add insult to injury, Alex Randall is later accused of molesting Mary.
Wilmington (S4E8)
The list of disturbing episodes fans tend to skip on re-watch wouldn't be complete without Wilmington, an episode in which Claire and Jamie's daughter Bree gets sexually assaulted by Black Jack Randall's rival villain, Stephen Bonnet. It's a genuinely disgusting scene, so it's only natural to give it a pass.
