5 New Actors Perfect for DCUs Flash Now That Ezra Miller is Out, Ranked
Yes, number 1 should be in the running.
With Ezra Miller out of the picture, fan thoughts are very much about who might be the new Barry Allen in DCUs Flash.
Here, we look at five of the names in the frame and rank them according to their suitability for the role:
5. Henry Cavill
Ok, hear me out. Yes, his portrayal of Superman garnered mixed reviews. And yes, that role probably should rule him out of contention for The Flash.
But he has the presence to play Flash and should at least be considered. If anything, the argument against casting Henry Cavill is that he seems to specialise in brooding heroes and that’s not really what we expect from Barry Allen.
It would be a challenge – but an interesting one. Nonetheless, he’s number five on the list.
4. Cameron Monaghan
The California-born actor is a versatile performer with a rich and varied filmography that ranges from comedy to period drama. He looks the part but whether he has the presence to carry off the role of Barry Allen is debatable.
There’s also the question of whether his acting style lends itself to the action genre. He’s not a frontrunner but it could happen.
3. Dylan O’Brien
A multi-award-winning actor who has the physical traits to play Barry Allen, O’Brien brings depth and nuance to his characters. As Stiles Stilinski in Teen Wolf, he was relatable and engaging.
His sense of wit and timing, along with his ability to convey empathy, would suit the role of Barry Allen. And he certainly has the action credentials for the part.
2. Lucas Till
Now we’re talking. Till has experience in this genre and has already demonstrated his adaptability when it comes to acting. Going from Hannah Montan to X-men is quite a journey.
As MacGyver, we saw glimpses of the wit he could potentially bring to the role. He would bring a fresh perspective to the portrayal of The Flash but has all the physical attributes and is arguably the closest to the comic book version of all the contenders.
1. Grant Gustin
We don’t even need to question his credentials. For many fans of DC, Grant Gustin is Barry Allen. The only question is whether, having played the part for 184 episodes over nine years, casting Gustin again would feel like a backward step.
He’s unlikely to bring anything new to the role. But if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.
