The long-awaited third season of Bridgerton is almost within reach, and we are excited to see what is in store next for our favorite characters in the glamorous Regency-era romance series.

Lady Whistledown has confirmed that Season 3 would focus on the 'budding relationship between Mr. Colin Bridgerton and Miss Penelope Featherington.'

We may not yet know the release date for Season 3, but we've had plenty of time to think about what we're most looking forward to from Season 3 based on what the books have told us so far, and it was difficult to choose just 5:

1. Kanthony settling into marriage

Actress Simone Ashley, who plays Kate, revealed that Season 3 will show off a very different side to 'Kanthony' as the pair settle down into married life, which will surely be an interesting feat to watch following their intensely passionate slow-burn romance and six-month honeymoon.

Season 3 will see some challenges in front of Kate, first as she takes on the role of Viscountess, and second, as the books describe, she will soon be pregnant with her first child and we can't wait to see these moments on screen, as well as how she handles them.

2. More Francesca

Due to scheduling issues, the sixth Brdigerton sibling hasn't appeared much on the series, but producers have committed to working more on her character in the upcoming season, and we are eager to learn more about her and see how she adds to the show's dynamic.

3. Benedict and Sophie meeting

Bridgerton producer Shonda Rhimes has strayed away from the order of the original novels, which would have seen Benedict's love story as the focus of Season 3. His story may not be the focus, but we hope to see some sort of beginning in Season 3 as he is set to meet Sophie in a Cinderella-like moment as the pair meet and fall for each other at a Masquerade ball, only for her to return the next day to her life as a servant.

We're hoping that Season 3 sees their love-at-first-sight encounter that leaves Benedict fixated on her for years to follow.

4. Eloise and Penelope making up

Things are going to be tense between the pair following their Season 2 fallout.

Elosie had some harsh words following her discovery that her best friend was Lady Whistledown, and has been tarnishing people in town with her writings. Is there any going back after calling your best friend an, 'insipid wallflower'?

We're anxiously waiting for some kind of reconciliation between the friends in the upcoming season, and hoping that that moment comes sooner rather than later.

5. Penelope taking a stand

Anyone who's read the books, or even browsed the internet knows that Penelope and Colin do eventually fall in love, but after his hurtful comments towards her, we're ready to see Penelope valuing herself more in Season 3, and making Colin work for her affections. In other words, we can't wait to see her put him in his place.
