After a two-year hiatus, Season 3 was a bit of a disappointment.

Part 2 of Bridgerton's third season was released almost a week ago, so there's been plenty of time to process what happened. And as much as it was exciting to have a new season of the beloved show, Season 3 proved to be a major letdown for fans.

Here are just five reasons why.

Polin

Of all the couples on the show, Colin and Penelope have known each other the longest. As such, their relationship should be the most nuanced. But instead, it has moved rather quickly with a burst of passion, a cold plunge of drama, a towering pile of blissful happiness. So much so that the main romantic storyline has no competition from other, seemingly insignificant subplots.

Eloise & Cressida's Friendship

As unexpected as this relationship was at the beginning of Season 3, it proved to be quite heartwarming and satisfying to follow as the two characters really brought out the best in each other. And they really seemed to have a strong bond that survived the ban on seeing each other in Part 1. But in Part 2, Eloise simply abandoned Cressida, who she knew didn't mean to hurt anyone with her travesty of a Lady Whistledown revelation, which was her last resort to escape a morganatic marriage.

Benedict's Affair with Lady Tilley Arnold

Although Lady Tilley doesn't exist in Julia Quinn's novels, her appearance on Bridgerton proved to be one of the most intriguing events of Season 3, as she and Benedict seemed to have a special connection. They were a match made in heaven, and Benedict even introduced her to her family, and she introduced him to her special friend Paul, with whom they enjoyed a threesome for quite some time. But in the end, the romance just fell apart when Tilley revealed that she had feelings for Benedict, and he suddenly understood that he wanted to explore his newfound bisexual freedom more.

Francesca & John's Love Story

The story of Fran and Lord Kilmartin was perhaps one of the most important. It showed several important points – the fact that different people want different things from love and life being one of them. In that sense, their 'slow approach,' as Violet called it, was crucial because, according to Francesca, it showed that love comes in many shapes and forms. But by the end of the season, she was the one who contradicted her own words, as it was obvious that she had fallen head over heels for John's cousin Michaela Stirling at first sight.

Violet's Arc

Violet played a major role in Season 3, helping two of her children find happiness. But with her words about her blooming garden, Bridgerton fans expected more personal happiness for the character. Sure, she had a thing with Lord Anderson, but it was too modest and innocent to enjoy. In other words, the Bridgerton mother needs some action in her life…
