These are hard to wrap your head around.

As popular as Season 3 of Bridgerton is with fans, it proved to be full of mind-boggling events and storylines, making it perhaps the most controversial of all the seasons of the romantic drama. These are just five of the most perplexing things that happened in the third season.

Lady Danbury's Feud with Her Brother

Season 3 of Bridgerton introduced many original characters, including Agatha's younger brother, Lord Marcus Anderson. On the show, Lady Danbury is visibly upset with Marcus for something he did that is not revealed until the end of the season. When she was sixteen and he was ten, he told their father that she was going to elope, thus thwarting her plans for a happy life. And it seems that Agatha has held a grudge against him for over four decades without ever considering how little ten-year-old Marcus understood about life. Sounds extreme, right?

The Mondriches at Fran & John's Wedding

Francesca and John's romance startled everyone right off the bat with how unconventional it was, so it wasn't surprising that the two characters decided to have a very small and quiet wedding with only family in attendance. And indeed, there were only a few Bridgertons present, including Colin, Penelope and Violet, their friend and matron Lady Danbury and her brother Marcus, and, for some reason, the Mondriches. Nobody on John's side, but the Mondriches? Sure, they seemed friendly with each other, but it's still baffling that Will and Alice were invited to the wedding.

Lord Debling's Disappearance

Lord Debling seemed to be a very serious suitor for Penelope in Part 1 of Season 3. Also, Cressida showed a lot of interest in him. And he himself seemed to be a serious man, expressing his intentions to take a wife. And yet, after breaking off his engagement to Penelope, he simply disappeared, and we never heard from him again – not even in Lady Whistledown's column.

Anthony Taking Kate to India

Probably the best thing about Season 3 was that we got to see Anthony and Kate's married life. But it also gave us one of the strangest arcs of the third season. It's commendable of Anthony to want to learn about his wife's roots and culture and want their children to know about it, but isn't it a little reckless to take your pregnant wife on a long and dangerous trip to India? After all, the show is set in the early nineteenth century, and the voyage isn't just a few hours' flight.

The Queen Making a Fuss about Lady Whistledown

As strange as it was that Queen Charlotte was obsessed with Lady Whistledown in the first place, it was even stranger that she decided to forgive her opponent after finally learning the scribe's true identity. Sure, Lady Danbury had a hand in placating the Queen, but it seemed that it was enough for Penelope to scratch Her Majesty's ego by praising her intelligence in front of the Ton to earn her forgiveness.
