5 Most Annoying Relationship Arcs on Virgin River
These are the worst romances on the beloved Netflix drama show.
Over its five seasons, Virgin River has introduced its audience to a plethora of romantic relationships between its characters. But unlike Mel and Jack's universally adored love arc, there are romances that drive viewers crazy.
Here are five of the most irritating relationships on Virgin River.
Brie and Brady
Although these two may seem like the next fan-favorite couple on Virgin River, their relationship is nothing short of annoying. Brie and Brady are the perfect embodiment of the bad boy/good girl trope which makes them terrible to follow. Their dialogue is corny and lame. But perhaps more significantly, their relationship has no basis other than passion. The two characters are incompatible, which is why their romance is doomed to wither.
Preacher and Paige
Virgin River's ultimate Mr. Right seems to be a total failure when it comes to relationships. Preacher gets invested in his crushes too soon, meaning his every romance he has is somewhat cringe-worthy. His arc with Paige is a prime example of that as he made serious accommodations for a woman he barely knew, including covering up for her manslaughter and taking care of her son. In other words, it was unbearable to watch Preacher spread himself thin for a woman who didn't deserve it in the slightest.
Lizzie and Ricky
One of the minor storylines on the show, this relationship proved memorable for its annoyance. Arguably, the both characters being irritating has a lot to do with it, but their romance, if you can even call it that, was intolerable for a different reason – its immaturity. A typical teenage relationship, it was sloppy and cheesy in ways that make you cringe when you think of high school sweethearts.
Muriel and Cameron
While this relationship is pretty satisfying and refreshing for some viewers, others gag at the first mention of it. The main criticisms are that the couple doesn't seem to have a future together and their lack of common ground. However, the main flaw is that Muriel and Cameron have no emotional connection apart from their passion for one another.
Preacher and Kaia
Unsurprisingly, John Middleton made it to our list for the second time. No matter how nice of a person he is, Preacher sucks at building relationships. He is too quick to get enamored with women he barely knows – Kaia is no exception. A new character on the show, the firefighter ignited passion in Preacher and the two got along like a house on fire. Yet, it would appear that the audience is incredulous about such a rapid development.
