It's about to kick right off…

Pretty much the only good thing about waiting for the return of one of your favourite TV shows is the amount of speculation, supposition and buildup that ramps up the anticipation. For fans of House of the Dragon, rumours and leaks about what's in store for season 2 are starting to come through, even though we don't yet know when the show will air.

Here are 5 more details that have been leaked about what HotD Season 2 has in store:

1. Episode 1 will be called 'A Son for a Son'

This is a quote from a letter written by Daemon following the death of Lucerys, with the blame laid squarely on Aemond's shoulders. Daemon is not known for his forgiving nature, and the title of the episode makes it clear how he feels the matter should be resolved.

2. Blood and Cheese will be introduced

Avid readers of George R.R. Martin's book series will know that Daemon and Rhaenyra's revenge involves the introduction of Blood and Cheese. This pair of assassins, a former guard of the Red Castle and a former royal ratcatcher, take part in one of the most gruesome and eagerly anticipated scenes in the story. And we'll meet them in season 2.

3. Alys Rivers is in it too

Rumours that the witch Alys Rivers will appear in season 2 began to circulate after actress Emily Beecham was seen reading a script for a character known only as 'AR'.

This makes sense, as Alys Rivers is a major character throughout the Targaryen Civil War. Apparently videos of this were posted online, but have since been removed. But an actor of Beecham's standing playing a HotD character with the initials AR has got tongues wagging.

3. The death of Meleys

The Dance of the Dragons will take many lives, including those of Rhaenys and her dragon Meleys. After they are killed by Aemond and Aegon II, Rhaenys' body cannot be found. However, the head of her dragon is brought back to King's Landing as proof of victory. This footage reportedly shows this particular scene being filmed.

A large cart can be seen, accompanied by soldiers, and while no dragon's head is seen, the blue tarpaulin on the cart looks very much like part of the CGI process for adding it.

4. Aegon II rides Sunfyre

Although not quite confirmed, this has been strongly hinted at. When asked if his character would ride, actor Tom Glynn-Carney told Entertainment Weekly: 'All I can tell you is that we're training very hard and we are making sure our bodies are in good enough condition for how strenuous Season 2 is gonna be.'
