Take a look at the hit show’s not-so-epic failures.

Since its release in 2020, Ted Lasso has been hailed as a television masterpiece. The show has endeared itself to many with its exceptional writing, acting, and complex humour. However, despite its widespread popularity, Ted Lasso has had its share of less successful episodes.

Here are the five least favourite episodes according to IMDb rankings.

  1. Headspace (7.7)

In episode 7 of season 2, the focus shifts to the personal lives of Richmond staff as they grapple with their issues. Ted continues working on his mental health with Dr. Sharon, while Nate adjusts to newfound admiration at AFC Richmond following his guidance that led the team to victory. Keeley and Roy struggle to establish boundaries in their relationship, and Rebecca delves deeper into the dating scene.

Viewers felt this episode strayed too far from the central storyline and featured too much personal drama.

  1. Goodbye Earl (7.6)

The first episode of season 2 sees AFC Richmond turn to psychology to address their problems. Main player Dani questions his life and career choices, prompting the club to hire Dr. Sharon to assist him and, unexpectedly, other players as well. Rebecca opens herself up to love, and Keeley helps Roy find a new purpose following his retirement.

Viewers found this episode disappointing and lacking direction compared to the first season as a whole.

  1. Signs (7.1)

In episode 5 of season 3, AFC Richmond attempts to break their losing streak by taking on Manchester City, a top Premier League team. Concurrently, characters face personal challenges. Team management questions Ted's competence, Rebecca continues her quest for love, and Keeley focuses on her PR firm.

Viewers felt this episode also deviated too much from the main plot.

  1. Beard After Hours (6.8)

Episode 9 of season 2 centres around Coach Beard as he wanders through London at night following another AFC Richmond defeat, seeking to regain control over his life. Along the way, he encounters old friends and adversaries.

Although this episode also diverged from the main storyline, viewers enjoyed seeing more of Coach Beard but felt it failed to develop his character adequately.

  1. We’ll Never Have Paris (6.4.)

Episode 8 of season 3 features Ted experiencing a breakdown after discovering that his wife and their former counsellor embarked on a romantic getaway to Paris while he cares for Henry. Nate discusses his future with Jade, and Keeley faces a crisis at her PR firm when a compromising video of her is leaked, causing professional and personal repercussions.

Viewers criticised this episode for its soap-opera feel, deeming it uncharacteristic of Ted Lasso as a whole.

Despite these lower-rated episodes, Ted Lasso remains a highly-regarded show, as even its least favourite episodes have garnered respectable scores.

Fans are now looking forward to the next episode to be released on 24 May.
