5 Lesser-Known TV Shows to Catch Up on During Strikes, Ranked by Reddit
Since we have ample time, why not give these five a chance?
As the end to the WGA-SAG-AFTRA strikes is nowhere on the horizon, many beloved series are still on an indefinite hiatus. For instance, CBS will not be airing Young Sheldon and NCIS this fall, and there are many other shows missing from the upcoming TV season, which gives fans plenty of free time to explore other less popular projects.
Redditors have suggested five titles that are not particularly well-known but will definitely entertain you during the dry fall season.
5. The OA (2016, 2 seasons)
This Netflix fantasy drama has Stranger Things' vibes but is much more peaceful and less paranormal than the flagship show. The OA revolves around Brit Marling's Prairie Johnson who reappears in her hometown after having been missing for seven years. Although she was blind as a child, the woman can now see and also claims to have the power to open portals into other dimensions.
4. Lovesick (2014, 3 seasons)
Centered around three friends/neighbors from Glasgow, Lovesick has an unconventional premise and narrative. The story follows one of the characters' sex life as he has recently learned he has chlamydia and now has to inform his numerous sexual partners about it. It's a bit smutty yet hilarious.

3. You're the Worst (2014, 5 seasons)
The show starts with a friends' wedding that the main characters (who haven't met yet) are set to ruin. As they spoil the night, the two get to know each other, and an unlikely romance begins. You're the Worst is full of twists and turns, and the characters are absolutely lovable, making it a pleasurable watch.
2. A League of Their Own (2022, 1 season)
A small-screen adaptation of the eponymous 1992 movie, the show takes you back to 1943 when the first female baseball teams were sprouting. The plot centers around one such team called the Rockford Peaches. The modern storytelling, colorful characters, and the themes of diversity and feminism make this historical drama relevant in 2023.
1. Jane the Virgin (2014, 5 seasons)
The show explores the problems of cultural identity and self-realization, following a Latina girl, Jane, who is abstinent from sex because of her religious abuela. Things change, however, when Jane discovers she's been impregnated by accident during a visit to a gynecologist. Jane the Virgin is satirical and thought-provoking, as well as utterly hilarious.
