5 Horror Films With Jaw-dropping Twist Endings to Watch on Netflix
Number 5 is a must-see.
A decent film needs a good twist. Because, as much as we enjoy trying to predict what's going to happen in movies and TV shows, we also love it when the ending is unexpected but better than we could have imagined.
Here are 5 top horror films (in no particular order) that are available on Netflix and have endings with insane twists. But don't worry, we’re not going to give away what happens:
-
Psycho (1960)
Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins star in this movie which is just dripping with suspense. Leigh stars as Marion Crane who steals $40,000 and then decides to stop for a night in the Bates Motel. From there, this turns into a great thriller that was rightly nominated for four Academy Awards and is viewed as one of Hitchcock's finest works. And the killer reveal is sensational.
-
The Boy (2016)
A young nanny, Greta Evans, who appears to have been hired to look after a life-size doll soon realises that things are not quite as they seem – even if what they seemed was a bit strange. Greta is given strict rules by the 'parents' of the doll (named Brahms) but doesn't really follow them. Then strange things start happening. And just when you think you have it all figured out…BOOM! The twist lands and your jaw hits the deck.
-
I See You (2019)
Not for the fainthearted, this is a horror that includes sexual assault. It's not for everyone, but if you can cope with the subject matter, the horror element is superb. A family that's already falling apart starts to experience strange happenings. And the payoff is immense!
-
The Perfection (2019)
Another one that requires a content warning for sexual assault. A one-time school prodigy returns to her school to meet the new rising star. There are several twists in this movie that will keep you guessing right up until the end – and you still won't guess right. Or maybe you will…
-
His House (2020)
This movie seemed to go under the radar – which is strange given that it came out in 2020 when most of us had nothing to do but watch Netflix. A couple fleeing war-torn South Sudan move to England as refugees. But they end up living in a haunted house (how's your luck, hey?). When the twist comes, it's apparent that we didn't quite know this couple as well as we thought we did.
