5 Classic Shows on Disney+ to Make You Feel Like a Child Again
Most of us watched these sitcoms when we were kids.
There is a lot of new content on Disney+, but you know what they say – classics never get old. These five shows are still entertaining years after they first aired on Disney Channel.
The Suite Life of Zack & Cody (2005-2008, 3 seasons)
Set at the fictional Tipton Hotel in Boston, the sitcom follows the titular twin brothers, who live in the suite with their single mother, as they navigate their early teenage years and accidentally wreak havoc on the property. The show explores their sibling relationships as well as their relationships with the hotel manager, the owner's daughter, the candy counter girl and, of course, their mother.
The comedy series has a three-season spin-off, The Suite Life on Deck, which is also available on Disney+.
Hannah Montana (2006-2011, 4 seasons)
The series that launched Miley Cyrus' music career was one of the most popular projects on Disney Channel. The show tells the story of Miley Stewart, an ordinary middle school student who dreams of a career in music. But since Miley's dad, Robby Ray Stewart, played by Billy Ray Cyrus, was a famous country singer himself, he knows how damaging fame can be, which is why Miley has to become Hannah Montana every time she goes on stage. As a result, the girl must juggle two lives while striving to succeed in both.
Wizards of Waverly Place (2007-2012, 4 seasons)
This fantasy sitcom starring Selena Gomez centers on her character Alex, a typical New York teenager who has two brothers to fight with and isn't doing well in school. The Russos, however, are no ordinary family. They are wizards, which means the kids have to study magic in their spare time, because one day they will have to fight each other for the right to keep their powers.
A sequel series is currently in the works at Disney.
Sonny with a Chance (2009-2011, 2 seasons)
This Disney Channel sitcom gave the world another star, Demi Lovato, who, like Miley Cyrus and Selena Gomez, went on to have a successful career in music. The show itself follows Lovato's title character as she moves from Wisconsin to Hollywood, where she's hired to star in a teen sketch show, So Random! However, Sonny struggles to fit in with her classmates and come to terms with her newfound fame, which is the focus of the show.
Jessie (2011-2015, 4 seasons)
This early 2010s sitcom centers on Jessie Prescott, played by Debby Ryan, who moves from Texas to New York as an act of rebellion against her strict father. Like many people, Jessie dreams of becoming famous, but ends up working as a nanny for the wealthy Ross family, who seem to collect children from unfortunate places in the world. As Jessie takes care of the four children, they all become much better people.
