5 Burning Questions Blue Bloods Fans Still Have About Eddie
After her debut in Season 4 of Blue Bloods, Eddie Janko-Reagan is now officially a part of the Reagan family.
She's a fairly divisive character; some like her staunchly independent nature, while others find her obnoxious.
As Season 13 comes to a close, fans still have five burning questions about Eddie.
Wait … isn't she just a patrol officer?
While her husband, Jamie Reagan, is a Sergeant in NYPD's 29th Precinct, Eddie is simply a normal beat cop. But throughout the show, she's seen performing the duties of a detective - investigating, going undercover, etc. In reality, most of her job would be responding to (mostly non-emergency) calls.
It seems the writers are aware that detective stories are more interesting, so they keep finding reasons for her to do detective work.
That being said…
When will she become a detective?
Relative to the Reagan family, Eddie represents the low-ranking officer in a family full of sergeants, detectives, and commissioners. After all the de facto detective work she's been doing over the past few years, it seems the writers are gearing up to make it official.
In one episode, she ignored her duties in responding to a 10-13 call because she was more excited to play detective. It's been ramping up for her to get that promotion, but it still hasn't happened.
How will her marriage to Jamie progress?
After going through a 'will they, won't they' relationship spanning five seasons, the two decided to get married after Jamie's nearly-fatal shootout. They originally weren't allowed to work together but found a loophole that allowed them in the same precinct.
While there's clearly a lot of love between them, there are also some elements of chaos and toxicity. Jamie was livid when she failed to respond to the 10-13; she once essentially bullied him into giving her classified information.
Most relationships take some maturing before they become perfected, and fans are curious to see how theirs works out.
Will they have kids?
They've been married for a few years now, so fans are starting to wonder when Jamie and Eddie will expand the Reagan family. The Reagans are a large, Irish-Catholic family, so it makes sense that Jamie would want kids of his own.
Blue Bloods' showrunner Kevin Wade actually spoke about this - saying he fears a child would 'sideline' Eddie beyond his liking.
Why don't the Reagan men include Eddie in their chats?
A family of blue-blood police officers, the Reagans often gather together for chats about police issues - often over a glass of whiskey. Most of the time, it's just the men.
She's never included in the chats, despite being part of the family and the only female Reagan to be a police officer. Her niece, Nicky, aspires to be the first full-blooded Reagan to wear a badge, but Eddie's already broken the gender barrier. Fans wonder why she's rarely part of the police family chats along with Frank, Danny, and Jamie.
