5 Bridgerton Actors Won't Be Back for Season 3 (Not That We Need Them)

Losing a few characters between seasons isn't always a bad thing. Sometimes freshening up the cast can help change the dynamic and improve a show. Or it might simply be that a character's time on a show is up and retaining them would be pointless. Then there are those potentially awkward situations in which an actor departs and somebody else has to come in and play the same role.

Here are 5 actors we know (for a variety of reasons) we won't be seeing in the new season of Bridgerton:

1. Phoebe Dynevor (Daphne Bridgerton)

Daphne didn't really need to come back for season 2. With Simon gone, her story arc seemed to have run its course, which was reflected in her lack of screen time.

Maybe the showrunners just wanted to pursue some ideas with the character, but it won't shock many fans to hear Dynevor won't be coming back.

2. Charithra Chandran (Edwina Sharma)

A key part of the season 2 narrative, Edwina's is another story that feels complete. Unlike Phoebe Dynevor, though, Charithra Chandran won't be hanging around for another installment. But don't worry about her. She's got plenty of projects on the go, including a main role in upcoming TV show Pillow Talk.

3. Ruby Barker (Marina Crane)

Edwina featured prominently in season 1 but hardly appeared in season 2 after moving away from London. Reincorporating her back into the plot in a big way wouldn't have been impossible, but it probably would have felt a bit forced.

As it is, Ruby Barker won't be making a comeback in Bridgerton season 3.

4. Ruby Stokes (Francesca Bridgerton)

Ruby Stokes has made the role of Francesca her own but won't be returning for season 3. Fortunately, this doesn't mean it's the end of the line for the character. Hannah Dodd takes over the role of Francesca after Stokes was forced to step down due to scheduling issues.

5. Regé-Jean Page (Simon Basset)

Ok, I know Page left after the first season. But he was such a hit that many fans would still love to see him back. And while we can never say never, we do know that he has a busy schedule and won't be appearing in season 3.

But if there's one thing we know from season 2, it's that the show is bigger than any one character and can thrive without him.
