5 Biggest Takeaways From Queen Charlotte New Footage
Here are key details from the new Queen Charlotte promo.
With just days to go before the premiere of Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story on May 4, Netflix is piquing the interest of the fans with an inside look at the highly anticipated spin-off.
The new video, posted on Netflix's YouTube account, features the cast and crew talking about the Bridgerton prequel. Much of the information mentioned has been revealed to the fandom, but there are also some new and exciting details too.
Here are the top five takeaways from the new footage.
New Setting
Fans already know that the upcoming series is set in two different timelines, about 35 years apart, and features both young and old versions of the same characters. Shonda Rhimes notes in the new video that while the stories in Bridgerton and Queen Charlotte are connected, the overall vibe of the scenes set in the past will be different.
'It's a completely new world,' the iconic showrunner said, 'We are going back in time to a very different era of costume, customs, the way things were done.'
Enemies-To-Lovers
The relationship between young Charlotte and King George is at the center of the upcoming prequel, and the new video provides some additional information about it. Their epic love story gets off to a terrible start when 17-year-old Charlotte is literally sold by her brother to marry the King of England.
The cast promises there will be many exciting storylines within the main romantic arc, and fans have noted that with all the angst, frustration, and sexual tension, which will inevitably blossom into love, this romantic story looks very much like a classic enemies-to-lovers trope.
Heartbreaking Finale
Unfortunately, the new video also hints at a heartbreaking finale to this great love affair. Eagle-eyed fans noticed that at one point Queen Charlotte is shown wearing all black and wondered if this meant King George's death in the spin-off. Since we already know about his failing health, that sounds like a plausible theory.
Charlotte-George Offsprings
The theory about George's death is further supported by another short scene. The video gives a quick look at Charlotte and George's 15 children, who have apparently come to sort out their lineage.
History buffs know that the Prince Regent will become the new king, and Bridgerton fans are excited to meet this character, who is said to give everyone a lot of headaches.
New Bridgerton
Another short scene from the video that sent fans into a frenzy shows Violet Bridgerton spending time with little Augie Basset and the new baby, who looks a lot like Augie. Fans are sure that this is the first time we'll meet the second child of Daphne. If the show sticks to the source material, it will be a girl named Amelia, but we'll have to wait and see.
