It's a show that demands a reaction and opinion from everyone who watches it.

Jury Duty is one of 2023's must-see shows. It's one season, eight shows, and a little under four hours of your life – but it's captivating viewers and getting plenty of traction on Reddit and other similar sites.

Here are five of the biggest reactions to it from Reddit:

  1. James Marsden is 'doing impeccably' and is described as a 'legit great comic actor'

Landing a massive star is a multi-layered success for the showrunners. It attracts attention to the show, brings a touch of real acting quality, and it ramps up the whole 'is this even real?' thing for Ronald by pushing the boundaries but staying within reality just enough.

  1. Ronald is 'so wholesome'

One of the major reasons for the popularity of the show is that they chose the perfect candidate for it. Ronald is such a nice, outgoing, grounded person that it's impossible not to like him. He handles dilemmas with aplomb and just wants to be happy. He's also clearly pretty smart, adding to the premise of the show and leaving viewers wondering whether he's going to twig what's really going on.

  1. The fact that Ronald is making 'friends with people who are just acting' is extremely sad

This is a common opinion – possibly as a result of him being such a nice guy. But it's also what the show is all about. Take away this element and Amazon wouldn't have a program to put out. And he gets pretty well compensated in the end.

  1. The soaking is 'hilarious'.

Ok, so this scene added nothing to the narrative, but it was just plain funny. Of course, the theory of 'soaking', while being discussed in front of Ronald, and a Hollywood star agreeing to do the jumping, were elements that took Ronald's experience to another level of 'what the hell?'. And let's face it, everybody wanted to see how it was going to work.

  1. People 'don't know if it's real or not'

Everybody who has watched the show has probably questioned at some point whether it is what it says it is. What if Ronald is in on it, and it's actually us, the viewers, who are being duped here? And how has he not twigged it? But two major points suggest the show is exactly what it claims to be.

Firstly, we're only seeing the highlights. Hours and hours of footage would have been filmed, most of it pretty mundane and exactly what Ronald would have expected. Secondly, his reaction at the end. It looked genuine and he kept asking additional questions as new thoughts occurred to him. So, on balance, it appears that it is genuine.
