Have they forgotten what happened on Sex and the City?

‘And Just Like That’ was welcomed by fans, who were excited to see their favorite Sex and The City characters back in action after all these years.

However, fans noticed some glaring continuity errors in the sequel that should never have happened, and some are far worse than others:

5. Carrie’s arrival in NYC

In AJLT, Aidan expresses his disbelief that Carrie had never been to Coney Island, despite having moved to New York 35 years earlier, when she was 21 years old.

This doesn’t add up with ‘The Carrie Diaries’ a spinoff that followed a 16-year-old Carrie arriving in New York for her first ever magazine job. The fact that ‘The Carrie Diaries’ isn’t technically part of the HBO universe makes this discrepancy forgivable, but we don’t see why AJLT couldn’t have just followed the same timeline.

4. Steve’s Bar ‘Scout’ mysteriously moved

The Scout bar was located on Mulberry Street in Manhattan, which is easy to remember after Carrie gifted Steve and his partner a Mulberry plant to celebrate their opening.

Now, on AJLT, Steve’s bar is located in Brooklyn. Some fans have tried to defend this, saying it may be a second location, but no mention has been made of a franchise, or a move, leaving us wondering how and why this change of location happened.

3. Brady’s Age

Steve and Miranda’s son Brady was born on season 4 of SATC, and Aidan’s eldest son Tate was shown as an infant in SATC season 6.

However, on AJLT, Brady who should be around 21 has just graduated high school, and Miranda refers to him as a minor. This makes less sense when we find out that Tate is 20 in AJLT.

Somehow, due to writing errors, Brady aged differently from the other kids in the series and Tate became older than him, even though Brady was born two seasons earlier on SATC.

2. LTW’s dad is … Alive?

In season 1 of AJLT, Lisa shared her grief over losing her father a year before, but then in season 2, her ‘dead’ father, Lawrence, arrives to celebrate her and Herbert’s 20th anniversary party.

Either LTW has two fathers, or the AJLT writers forgot their own storyline. We think it's the latter, and there’s no excuse for that one.

1. Harry’s Mother’s death

On AJLT, Harry mentions to Antonio that his mother had been dead for 10 years, but this is a huge continuity error. In Sex and the City, Harry’s mother died before he and Charlotte met, and on AJLT, would have been dead for two decades.

10 years is a big difference, especially because it suggests that Harry’s mom would have been alive at the time that Charlotte came into the picture, which would discredit Charlotte converting to Judaism in SATC because Harry had promised his dead mother that he would marry a Jewish woman.
