4 Spin-Off Ideas Straight From Ted Lasso Cast That Just Might Work

Season 3 of Ted Lasso has come to a close. Does this mean the ultimate end of the beloved story? The show's creator Jason Sudeikis seems to be satisfied with how his show finished and doesn't plan to write another season or a spin-off — that is, not until Apple TV insists that he does!

But even if Ted's story is over and done with, there are plenty of other side characters in the series who deserve to have their stories expanded into a sequel. The Daily Beast recently talked to the show's cast members, asking them which characters they could see growing into protagonists of their own shows.

Here are four amazing spin-off ideas from the Ted Lasso cast.

4. Higgins and Beard Spin-Off

Jeremy Swift, who played the optimistic Director of Football Operations Leslie Higgins, suggested a very original, satirical plot idea that would fall into the mystery/crime genre.

'Higgins and Beard detective agency. But Beard is secretly corrupt and committing all the crimes. Higgins doesn't know anything about it,' he said.

Building on this idea, Nate could finally be given a proper redemption through helping Higgins find the perpetrator behind the crimes!

3. Will Kitman Spin-Off

Trent Crimm's actor James Lance came up with another unusual idea, focusing on a very minor but lovable side character, Will Kitman — ironically, a kitman at AFC Richmond.

'I'd be pretty interested to see what Will the Kit Man is up to in his private life. [The actor who played Will] Charlie Hiscock is a little superstar. He's funny as hell. I'd like to see him more,' Lance admitted.

2. Trent Crimm Spin-Off

Charlie Hiscock himself spoke just as warmly of James Lance and his character, saying that a spin-off about the infamous sports reporter and AFC Richmond biographer would definitely be entertaining.

'But I'll say: Following Trent Crimm on his next journey. Where does he go now, now that he's writing the book for the team? What happens next?' the actor shared.

1. Phoebe and Roy Spin-Off

However, the most popular response from the cast members is a spin-off about Roy and his niece Phoebe, who seems to have quite a lot of potential for her own show.

'She's so cool, right? And she likes football too! Maybe she can play football — soccer — and we'll see stories around the younger leagues. And the women's teams. That would be cool,' Dani Rojas' actor, Cristo Fernández, shared.

Perhaps we can really expect a prequel focusing on Roy Kent helping his energetic niece on her way to a soccer career? This definitely sounds like a suitable premise for a Ted Lasso spin-off, following in the main show's footsteps and spreading positivity and life-affirming messages for years to come.
