The "original" Ellie and Joel and the actors who played the Clickers.

On April 13, the second season of The Last of Us – an adaptation of the game of the same name by the studio Naughty Dog – started.

Although the series deviates from the original source in many ways, it closely follows the plot of the original game. And the authors also added many interesting details to the plot.

1. The Clickers Are Played by Actors Who Are No Coincidence

During their journey, the characters regularly encounter Clickers – people in the third stage of the fungal infection. The monsters are very strong, but they can't see and rely only on echolocation.

If you look at the credits of the series, you can see that even the roles of some of the monsters were not chosen by chance. In the second episode, the male and female clickers are played by Misty Lee and Phillip Kovats. They were the ones who voiced the monsters in the original game.

2. The “Original” Ellie Is Also in the Show

While the choice of Pedro Pascal for the lead role was approved by most fans, there was a lot of controversy surrounding Bella Ramsey, who played Ellie.

But the creators of the adaptation definitely didn't have the option of inviting the original actress to join the cast. Ashley Johnson, who did the motion capture and voice acting for the game, was in her 40s when the series was filmed. However, the creators found a way to loop the story in this case.

Johnson appears in Ellie's memories in the ninth episode. She plays Anna, the girl's mother.

3. In the First Episode, the Ride Was Filmed From the Back Seat of the Car

The first season of the series begins with an interview in an old TV show – this scene was not in the game. The introduction then closely follows the original: Joel, his brother Tommy and Sarah are driving down the street in a truck.

In this part of the original source, the player controls the girl, which leads to the first dark twist of the story.

In order to convey the most realistic sensations, the creators of the series filmed part of the action from the back seat of the car, next to where Joel's daughter sits. To do this, they had to put the cameraman through a difficult test: she was actually put in the car, buckled up and sent on a dangerous journey.

4. The "Original" Joel Was Killed by Ellie

In the original games, the main character was played by Troy Baker, who worked on both the character's motion capture and voice acting. In the TV adaptation, Joel was played by Pedro Pascal.

However, Troy Baker also appeared in the series. He had a small role as James, one of the followers of the villain David. The character dies at the hands of Ellie: she metaphorically killed the original Joel to stay with the new one.
