The entertainment industry is full of surprises, and it's always exciting to see unexpected connections between some of our favorite shows and actors.

And while The Vampire Diaries and Glee may be polar opposites when it comes to concept and genre, one major thing they have in common is a cast with limitless versatility and range.

But did you know that some of the actors from the supernatural drama have made appearances in the hit musical series? That's right, three TVD stars have guest-starred on Glee, and surprisingly, no one noticed.

1. Christopher Cousins

First emerging in episode 8 of season 6, Cousins portrayed a recurring character in four episodes, Joshua Parker, a witch and the former head of the Gemini Coven.

However, in contrast to his darker role in the fantasy series, the actor also played superintendent Bob Harris, the head of Lima Public Schools, which governs all schools, on Glee. Cousins is first introduced in the episode titled 'Love, Love, Love,' where he assigns Sue Sylvester (Jane Lynch) to replace Figgins as principal and appears in several episodes across seasons 5 and 6.

2. Riley Voelkel

Riley Voelkel is perhaps best known for her role as Freya Mikaelson in The Originals, where her character reappeared throughout the second season and was promoted to a series regular from season 3 onwards.

But not many people know that before she joined the Vampire Diaries universe, she made a brief appearance in Glee's season 5 episode titled 'New New York.' She took on the role of Sam, an aspiring pill-popping model who became Sam's (Chord Overstreet) roommate when the agency put him up in an apartment with other models.

3. Leah Pipes

Leah Pipes made her TVD debut in a season 4 episode, 'The Originals.' She was also a mainstay throughout seasons 1 to 3 of The Originals in the role of Camille O'Connell, a vampire who was Klaus' love interest.

In Glee's season 4 episode 'Naked,' she played a film student from NYADA named Electra who offered Rachel (Lea Michele) a role in her student film project, in which one scene would require Rachel to be topless.

Seeing these actors in such seemingly disparate shows is mind-blowing, without a doubt. But while they may have managed to fly under the radar with their guest appearances, it's clear that it's a testament to their talent as performers.
